Our Services
Beach Surface Grooming & Raking
Coastal Sand Works provides precise beach surface grooming to keep shorelines clean, safe, and visually appealing. Using specialized rakes, we remove debris, smooth uneven areas, and prepare the sand for public use, private enjoyment, or special events. Each beach is assessed individually to determine the best approach while respecting local environmental regulations.
Seaweed & Organic Debris Management
Seaweed and other natural debris are part of coastal ecosystems, but excessive accumulation can impact beach usability. Coastal Sand Works evaluates each shoreline and employs methods such as:
- Burial of organic material above or below the mean high-water line (MHWL)
- Integration of material into the sand naturally
- Removal for disposal or alternative uses
Non-organic debris is always collected and disposed of responsibly. By using the most effective method for each beach, we maintain the natural environment while preserving the shoreline’s beauty and health.
Event & Seasonal Preparation
Coastal Sand Works prepares beaches for weddings, tournaments, festivals, and seasonal peak periods. Our team ensures a clean, smooth surface that is safe and attractive for visitors, with customized maintenance plans designed around your schedule.

Family Owned since 1988, with our Grandpa, John DellaPia.
John Sr. started Beach Masonizing in 1988. He and Grandma Eleanor (Ellie) moved from Middletown, NY and first, opened up a Panama Jack Shack & paddle boat rentals on Madeira Beach in the early 1980's. Grandpa saw a need for beach grooming and we were known as Beach Masonizing for many years.
2nd Generation - Our Dad, John.
When John Sr's eldest son, John, retired from the Air Force after 27 years, he joined Grandpa John on the beach. Beach Masonizing had 2 great men, and a few great drivers, serving Pinellas County municipalities, condominiums and private home owners, keeping the beaches beautiful.
Third Generation
Now, the third generation of DellaPia men have been behind the wheel of the tractors. John (yes, another one! #3) and David have worked over 10 years on the beaches to keep our family business going strong. Our other driver, Devin, has been a HUGE help to us for several years.
Sadly, we lost our Dad to cancer in 2019. Tina, took on the company in 2024 and changed the name to Coastal Sand Works to better describe the work that we do on the beach.
